Books on Main
Books on Main feels like you’re reading inside a tree-house in a Wisconsin forest. It opened in June 2023. Local residents have a welcoming place decorated with wood, leaves and comfortable furniture to gather and discover new and beloved books.
Off the Beaten Path Bookstore
First opened more than 30 years ago, Off the Beaten Path has been through three sets of owners and three locations. Current owners Mike and Danielle Skov say one thing has never changed: The promise to be a welcoming and inclusive (包容的) space. They partner with local schools, libraries and nonprofits to reach as much of the community as possible.
Changing Hands Bookstore
Too popular to be called a hidden gem (宝石), this Arizona jewel recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. It first opened in a 500-square-foot space in 1974. It hosts author events, poetry discussion groups and offers a Trade Counter where customers can bring in gently used books for store credit.
The Last Chapter Book Shop
The Last Chapter is an all-romance bookstore in Chicago that opened in 2023. The store hosts author events along with community mixers like Blind Date with a Book, where you wrap one of your favorite books and “trade” it with a fellow book fan in hopes of finding a new favorite and a new friend.

Remember your first ever day of school: how you straightened out your school clothes, made sure your mom prepared your favorite lunch and your backpack? Do you remember your first backpack? Mine was red with Mickey Mouse and it carried all of my primary school books. Years later, I still remember it as a sign of happy school days and childhood. Unluckily, years fly by and it’s time for exams and preparing for college. But some seniors find a fun way to hold onto childhood a little longer by wearing childish backpacks to school. This senior backpack challenge quickly become a hit on TikTok.
Usually, a lot of teenagers cannot wait to grow up; they long for independence and want to appear grown-up. But things seem to be changing, as a lot of high school seniors are dropping the cool kid look and choosing a childish style. As a lot of students are heading back to school, most of them are shopping for school supplies and new backpacks to carry them in. Instead of fashionable ones, they are choosing the ones showing their favorite childhood characters: Backyardigans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man — you name it.
This trend is taking the internet by storm. A quick search of “seniorbackpacks” shows a lot of colorful and fun small-sized bags. Seniors are showing off their new backpacks on TikTok, making commentators(评论者)think of their school days and wish they would have kept their SpongeBob or Disney Princess backpack. A few commentators note that this trend isn’t new, and a lot of seniors have been wearing childish backpacks for years. Only in recent years has this become a trend.
The senior backpack trend brought back a good feeling of longing for simpler days. Back in kindergarten, whoever had the same sweater or same shoes would become best friends. Now, years later, seeing someone wearing a backpack with the same cartoon characters is bringing that feeling back to us.
