Pairing sweet music with dessert — Melt into the melody!
A composer claims to have found a way to make chocolate even tastier with music. Natalie Hyacinth researched how music can affect people’s senses while they eat. She found that sharper sounds strengthen sour and bitter flavors while smooth melodies make foods taste sweeter. In fact, she wrote a song called “Sweetest Melody,” to produce flowing music that highlights creaminess. She said enjoying chocolate can be a “multisensory experience.”
Pumpkin festival pumps up fall spirit — They go crazy for pumpkins.
As the fall season begins, the world’s largest pumpkin festival has opened in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Visitors can check out pumpkin-based foods, art sculptures (雕塑) made with pumpkins, and a rowing competition featuring giant pumpkins as boats. At the end of the celebration on November 2, giant pumpkins are cut open and their seeds are collected to grow next year’s crops.
